Any Decent Music? – Spotify-friendly music review aggregator
Finding new releases on Spotify can be tricky, and finding new releases that are any good can be doubly difficult. That’s where Any Decent Music? comes in. ADM reviews the music reviews, compiling a chart of the top-rated recent releases based on the reaction of 30 different publications. Albums qualify once they’ve had five reviews, and drop out of the recent release chart into the all-time chart after 6 weeks. The chart can be customised by genre or by publication, and of course all releases are linked to Spotify.

So what is ADM highlighting at the moment? As of today, top of the recent releases chart is Hidden by These New Puritans, a highly original, odd and ambitious album from the previously largely ignored British indie band. Via ADM we can see that both the Observer Music Monthly and the Daily Telegraph gave the album 10/10.
The strength of its reviews mean that Hidden already tops ADM’s all-time chart, which goes back around 14 months. Also on the all-time list are Malian musician Bassekou Kouyate’s I Speak Fula, Microcastle by Deerhunter, and React or Die by Butcher Boy.
The usefulness of ADM’s Spotify links is occasionally hampered by gaps in the Spotify catalogue. So Spotify users can’t yet listen to the eagerly-awaited Vampire Weekend album Contra, or top-rated recent releases from Four Tet and Yeasayer. That’s a problem that only Spotify and the labels can solve. Otherwise, Any Decent Music? is a great place to find new music recommendations, and is well worth bookmarking.
