Despotify – playlists of the warped and wicked

News | 19th January 2010 |

The Sun newspaper has a “fun” feature today. Headlined “Despotify”, it reveals the playlists of the world’s biggest tyrants, some say despots. “After a busy day spent oppressing their people, it seems that dictators like to unwind to music, just like the rest of us,” says the paper, going on to reveal that Robert Mugabe likes Cliff Richard, Colonel Gaddafi likes Lionel Ritchie, Kim Jong-il likes Eric Clapton, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad likes Chris de Burgh.

Also revealed, by a former “sex slave” of the cave-dwelling terrorist leader, is the fact that Osama Bin Laden likes Van Halen and the B52s, and once planned to buy his favourite pop star Whitney Houston a mansion in Sudan “and have her then-husband Bobby Brown killed”.

If you have the misfortune to share the musical tastes of the men above we’ll leave you to compile your own despot playlist!
