Hot on Spotify for 2010: Delphic

Music | 11th January 2010 |

Delphic hit the ground running with their first single, Counterpoint, in April 2009. The swirling beats and catchy chorus signalled the band out as one to watch, and 2010 could well be their year. The Manchester band combine indie with electronica in a style reminiscent of one of their city’s finest exports, New Order. Their debut album, Acolyte, is already being tipped as one of the best of the year.

Formed from the remains of short-lived but promising band Snowfight In The City Centre, Delphic is a four-piece, with James Cook on vocals, Matt Cocksedge on guitar, Dan Hadley on drums and Richard Boardman hitting and twiddling various other things. The band spent much of last year on the festival circuit, and followed up Counterpoint with further singles This Momentary and Doubt.

Acolyte is out this week, and is available on Spotify. If any band can breathe new life into the indie genre, Delphic may be the one to do it.
